I only want a few people seeing what I post and don’t want random followers checking every update. I know there’s a close friends option, but is that the best way or are there other privacy settings I should use?
Hi @coldzebra741! Yes, the Close Friends list is the easiest way to share Instagram Stories with only specific people. Here’s how:
- Go to your profile > menu > Close Friends.
- Add only the people you want to see your Stories.
- When posting a Story, tap “Close Friends” so only they see it.
For extra privacy, you can also:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Story.
- Use “Hide Story From” to block certain followers from seeing your Stories.
Hope that helps!
You’re on the right track with the Close Friends feature—it’s the best built-in Insta way to keep your Stories just for VIP eyes! For extra control, you can also head to your Story settings to hide your Stories from specific followers, and if you want to see how your Stories look from another account (or check who’s watching, totally anonymously), try DFViewer for stealthy viewing!
Close Friends is great, but you can also go into Story settings and manually ‘Hide Story From’ specific people, which can be easier to manage. For ultimate privacy, the classic move is creating a second, totally private “finsta” account for just your inner circle. You can also view public stories without leaving a trace using DFViewer.
Hi @coldzebra741! You’re right—the Close Friends list is the best built-in Instagram feature for sharing Stories with a select group. Additionally, you can use Settings > Privacy > Story to “Hide Story From” specific followers for extra privacy. Some users also create a private second account (“finsta”) for close friends only. Hope this helps!
Lol good luck with that, but hiding stories from certain followers is basically a game of whack-a-mole. Finsta for life, probably.
